Many people use heavy cream or half-and-half to make them very creamy, but I prefer to use skim milk.

I can’t really taste a big difference, but I know the calorie difference is significant. This is fantastic for children of any age. It’s simple to make mashed potatoes if your child likes them or for babies (my 10-month-old really enjoys it). It is a good option instead of the usual baked potato side dish. Adapting a recipe for a large group is simple if you need a side dish for a potluck. Another advantage of this recipe is that it is cheap to prepare.

Potatoes are really healthy for you too! They contain a higher amount of potassium than a banana. Potatoes are rich in fiber, which can lower cholesterol levels and reduce the chance of heart disease. Potatoes also have a lot of vitamin C and vitamin B6. You can feel proud of making this nutritious meal for your family!

To prepare this dish, you will need the following ingredients:

List of components:

2 big potatoes (or a few small new potatoes)
2 tablespoons of butter 2 tablespoons of flour
1 cup of cream
1 cup of milk
3 cups of fresh peas without the shell or frozen peas.
1 and a half teaspoons of chicken bouillon granules.
Add pepper as desired.

INSTRUCTIONS:

If you are using new potatoes, simply cook them in boiling water until they are soft.
If you are using regular potatoes, peel them and cut them into big cubes that are 1 1/2 inches in size. Cook in salted water until soft.
Next, make a simple white sauce by melting the butter in a medium-sized saucepan. Mix the flour first, then add the cream and milk. Cook over medium heat while stirring until the mixture becomes thick and smooth. Use a wooden spoon to mix in the chicken broth and peas. Cook until they are warm.
At this point, your potatoes are almost ready. Remove the water from the potatoes and put them in the white sauce. Add pepper if you like. Do not cook for too long. You want the peas to stay crunchy and not become soft like canned peas (Yuck!!) When reheating this dish, if the leftovers become too thick, you can add some milk to make it creamier.
