Venetian apple pie easy recipe

Here’s a simple recipe for Venetian apple pie:

Ingredients:

  • 2 sheets of ready-made puff pastry
  • 4-5 medium-sized apples (such as Granny Smith or Gala)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Place the slices in a bowl and toss them with the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and lemon zest until well coated.
  3. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to fit the size of your baking sheet. Place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Arrange the apple slices evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Roll out the second sheet of puff pastry and place it over the apple slices. Press the edges of the two sheets of pastry together to seal them.
  6. Brush the melted butter over the top of the pie.
  7. Use a sharp knife to make a few small slits on the top pastry to allow steam to escape during baking.
  8. Bake the pie in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  9. Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes.
  10. Optionally, dust the top of the pie with powdered sugar for a decorative touch.
  11. Serve the Venetian apple pie warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
