Super Simple Cream Puffs
Ingredients:
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
4 eggs
1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large saucepan, bring the water, butter, and salt to a boil over medium-high heat. Once the butter is melted, add the flour all at once and stir constantly until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
Remove the pan from heat and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, stirring vigorously after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
Using a spoon or a piping bag, drop or pipe the dough into small rounds onto the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the puffs are golden brown and crisp. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
Once the puffs are cooled, slice them in half horizontally and fill them with the whipped cream mixture.
Serve immediately and enjoy your Super Simple Cream Puffs.
Note: The puffs can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days, but it is best to fill them with the whipped cream just before serving.
You can customize the recipe by adding chocolate chips or different flavors to the dough, or by using flavored whipped cream or chocolate ganache for the filling.
