These Amish-style sweet and sour meatballs are tender, flavorful, and
simmered in a tangy-sweet tomato sauce. A comforting slow cooker dish

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 2 pounds ground beef (80–85% lean)
  • 1 cup plain dry bread crumbs
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten

Sauce

  • 2 cups tomato juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, bread crumbs, and eggs gently.
  2. Form into 1 to 1½-inch meatballs (about 24–30 total).
  3. Place meatballs in a slow cooker in a mostly single layer.
  4. Whisk tomato juice, brown sugar, and vinegar until combined.
  5. Pour sauce evenly over meatballs.
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
  7. Stir gently, adjust flavor if needed, and serve hot.
