How to Make Quick, Light, and Fluffy Dinner Rolls
Just the sight of these soft rolls makes me hungry! Thankfully, you can achieve the perfect dinner roll texture without all the work. No need to roll or knead like traditional recipes—these only need a single rise, about 20 minutes (longer if your kitchen is cooler), before they’re ready to bake.
Ingredients List
¾ cup water
¾ cup milk
4 tablespoons softened butter (56.7 grams)
¼ cup sugar (50 grams)
1½ teaspoons salt (8.5 grams)
3¾ to 4 cups all-purpose flour (468.75–500 grams)
2¼ to 3 teaspoons quick-rise yeast (7–10 grams)
Topping: Melted butter for brushing after baking
Instructions
1. Lightly oil or spray a 9×13 baking pan and set aside.
2. Combine water, milk, butter, sugar, and salt in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for one minute. Stir until the butter melts, then transfer to a stand mixer.
3. Add about 3½ cups of flour and yeast to the mixer. Mix at medium speed with the paddle attachment, adding more flour as needed until the dough is soft and slightly sticky.
4. Switch to the dough hook and knead for 6-8 minutes.
5. If kneading by hand, transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 6-8 minutes.
6. Divide the dough into 15 equal pieces, shaping each into a ball (a scale can help for accuracy).
7. Place the dough balls in the prepared pan, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes, or until doubled in size.
8. Bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
9. Remove from the oven and brush immediately with melted butter.
10. Allow to cool slightly, then serve and enjoy!
