Ingredients:
For the Burgers:
• 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend preferred)
• 1/2 tsp garlic powder
• 1/2 tsp onion powder
• 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 4 slices mozzarella cheese
• 4 brioche or burger buns
For the Lasagna Layers:
• 4 lasagna sheets (cooked and cut to bun size)
• 1 cup ricotta cheese
• 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
• 1 egg
• 1/2 tsp dried basil
• 1/2 tsp dried oregano
For the Marinara Sauce:
• 1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 2 cloves garlic (minced)
Extras:
• 8 slices cooked crispy bacon
• Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the ricotta mixture:
• In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, Parmesan, egg, basil, and oregano. Set aside.
2. Cook the lasagna sheets:
• Boil the lasagna sheets according to package instructions. Drain and cut to fit the burger buns.
3. Cook the burgers:
• Mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
• Form into 4 patties. Cook in a skillet or grill over medium heat for 4–5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. Top with mozzarella slices during the last minute of cooking to melt.
4. Make the marinara sauce:
• Heat olive oil in a small pan, sauté garlic for 1 minute, then add marinara sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
5. Assemble the burgers:
• Toast the buns lightly.
• Spread marinara sauce on the bottom bun.
• Add the burger patty, followed by a slice of lasagna sheet.
• Top with a dollop of ricotta mixture and two slices of crispy bacon.
• Add fresh basil and the top bun.
6. Serve:
• Serve immediately with a side of fries, salad, or garlic bread.
Tips:
• Swap mozzarella for provolone or smoked gouda for a twist.
• Add sautéed mushrooms or caramelized onions for extra flavor.
• Leftover marinara? Use it as a dip for fries or breadsticks!
