Perfect Air Fryer Popovers

Posted on July 20, 2024 By 3nviu No Comments on Perfect Air Fryer Popovers

Popovers are a classic and beloved pastry known for their light, airy texture and deliciously crispy exterior.

Traditionally baked in the oven, popovers can now be easily made using an air fryer, giving them an even crispier finish while maintaining their soft, custard-like center.

This article provides a detailed guide on making perfect air fryer popovers, ensuring they puff up beautifully and taste amazing.

Ingredients
To make these delightful air fryer popovers, you will need the following ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup whole milk

3 large eggs

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon melted butter

Cooking spray or additional melted butter for greasing the pans

Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Batter
Mix Wet Ingredients:

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and melted butter until well combined.

Add Dry Ingredients:

Gradually add the flour and salt to the wet mixture, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. The batter should be smooth and slightly runny.

Rest the Batter:

Let the batter rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps the flour absorb the liquid, leading to better puffing.

Step 2: Prepare the Air Fryer
Preheat the Air Fryer:

Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. This ensures the popovers start baking immediately when placed inside.

Grease the Pans:

Lightly grease popover or muffin tins with cooking spray or melted butter. This prevents the popovers from sticking and helps them rise properly.

Step 3: Bake the Popovers
Fill the Pans:

Pour the batter into the prepared tins, filling each about halfway. Avoid overfilling as the batter will expand significantly.

Air Fry:

Place the tins in the air fryer basket and air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until the popovers are golden brown and puffed up. Avoid opening the air fryer during the first 10 minutes to prevent the popovers from deflating.

Check for Doneness:

Once the popovers are golden brown, use a toothpick to check if they are done. If the toothpick comes out clean, they are ready.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy
Remove and Cool:

Carefully remove the tins from the air fryer. Let the popovers cool for a few minutes before gently removing them from the tins.

Serve:

Serve the popovers warm with butter, jam, or your favorite spread. They are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a delightful snack.
