Life just got better with this 3-ingredient sensation

Posted on February 20, 2024 By 3nviu No Comments on Life just got better with this 3-ingredient sensation

The 3 Ingredient Sausage Cream Cheese Casserole is a testament to the beauty of simplicity in cooking. Without being anchored to any specific culinary tradition, this dish has earned its place in the hearts of many who appreciate the joy of uncomplicated, comforting meals. Its foundation lies in the buttery, flaky layers of crescent roll dough, which perfectly complement the rich and hearty filling of seasoned sausage and creamy cream cheese. This casserole shines as a versatile option for any meal, embodying the essence of home-cooked warmth and satisfaction.

Presenting this casserole is an experience in itself. It stands proud as a rich and fulfilling dish, yet it welcomes the addition of simple sides to round out the meal. For a lighter touch, a crisp salad dressed in a tangy vinaigrette offers a refreshing contrast to the dish’s richness. If serving for breakfast or brunch, consider pairing it with a fruit salad to introduce a sweet and tart balance to the savory flavors. For a more substantial meal, roasted vegetables or a comforting cup of soup can transform this humble casserole into a full-fledged dinner.

3 Ingredient Sausage Cream Cheese Casserole

Ingredients:

2 cans (8 ounces each) crescent roll dough

Approximately 20 ounces of pork sausage crumbles

8 ounces of cream cheese

Instructions:

Preheat the Oven: Start by setting your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s at the optimal temperature for baking.

Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it’s thoroughly cooked and no longer pink. Drain any excess fat as needed.

Add Cream Cheese: Lower the heat to a simmer and stir in the cream cheese with the sausage. Mix until the cream cheese is fully melted and combined with the sausage, creating a creamy filling. Remove from heat.

Prepare the Crescent Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of a lightly greased 9×13 inch baking dish, covering the surface evenly. If necessary, pinch together the seams to form a single dough layer.

Layer the Filling: Evenly spread the sausage and cream cheese mixture over the first layer of crescent dough in the baking dish.

Add the Top Layer: Place the second can of crescent dough over the filling, forming the top crust of the casserole.

Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dough has puffed and turned golden brown.

Serve: Allow the casserole to cool slightly before cutting into squares. Serve warm and enjoy the delightful simplicity of this 3 Ingredient Sausage Cream Cheese Casserole
